I.33 Combat System: Basic Concepts

Part one: Explanation of the seven guards. Two different strategical usage of the first six guards. Why the last guard, the Longpoint, is the most versatile. Part two: Usage of the Longpoint. Controlling the center with the threat of the blade, buckler placement to constrain the opposing blade movement, and body positioning to win the bind. Part three: Entering the dangerous zone safely with the Halfshield. Explanation of the three differents ranges for the sword, and explanation of the sieging concept.The translation used for our studies of the I.33 is the Liber de arte dimicatoria, co-written by Franck Cinato, who founded La Compagnie Médiévale.

Experience Requirements: None

Equipment Requirements: A buckler, a sword (nylon or steel), helmet, and gloves. Other equipment is optional.
